What is the right pillow? The right pillow is the one you choose to rest your head on each night: too flat and you wake up feeling stiff, too high and you wake up with neck pain. The filling decides it. Hollowfibre pillows are light, springy and the easiest to wash; memory foam pillows mould to the head and hold their shape for firmer support; down alternative pillows give the soft, sink-in feel of feathers without the feathers. Standard pillows in South Africa are 45 × 70 cm, and every pillow here is made for a standard pillowcase.

The Pierre Cardin Vogue black yarn anti-stress pillow is a hollowfibre pillow with 800 g of fill and a cover woven with carbon-fibre yarn that disperses the static that builds up while you sleep: antibacterial, anti-dustmite, machine washable and quick to dry.
