Cotton Hammam Beach Towels, Turkish style: 100% cotton, flat-woven, with hand-knotted tassels at both ends. The hammam towel, or peshtemal, is the towel of the Turkish bath, and it is woven flat instead of looped, so it has none of the bulk of a pile towel. It folds small and light in a beach bag, soaks up water after a swim, then dries itself over a chair or a railing far sooner than a pile towel would, and the cotton gets softer and more absorbent with every wash. The flat weave is what makes it more than a towel: a sarong on the walk back, a wrap on the boat, a picnic blanket, a throw and a cover for a hot sun-lounger.
